Victoria Hett Shorai Husaberg

Race Report from Shorai Sponsored Cornergrass Racing:

Wardlow AB:  While the ISDE was happening in Sardinia, Victoria Hett of Vernon, BC, was very busy battling herself to a third place in the intermediateclass championship final standings.

The Tree Hugger Harescrambles in Castlegar, September 16 tested Victoria’s wit and skill as heavy rain the night before, and during the event made for an interesting day. After a poor start, she put her head down and fought her way to the front of the pack, finishing a very muddy 3rd place.  “The Castlegar course held up really well and we were treated to some new trails and some old that made for one of the most flowing fun courses I have ever ridden. The organizers did a great job, and I’m so glad I decided to go and battle it out in the rain!” – Victoria.

A week later, success was again Victoria’s, taking her Valley Moto Sports Husaberg TE 250 off the line to a great start at the Rock Hound Cross Country.  The Salmon Arm course provided a variety of terrain, from rooty, mud holes, to flowing single track to slick rock faces.  She rode smart and safe to carry her starting position to a third place finish.

The final event on the PNWMA schedule was the Nicola Valley Dirt Riders Associations Bar Bender.  The organisers put on an event that was going to test the ‘A’ class riders, who were going to ride an additional sections that would turn into “character builders”, as Victoria put them.  Large, deep, and unavoidable mud holes complicated this section, often requiring competitors to become team members, as riders helped one another to extricate their bikes from the mud.

“Survival runs take a toll on everyone, and finishing the event becomes a success all on its own….it was a true test against man and machine & despite some unfortunate struggles on this last race of the season, I finished in 5th place for the day and enjoyed myself very much!” – Victoria

“I think Victoria should be very proud of her accomplishment, competing in a deep pool of competition, and fighting to the end for a third place in the championship. It should be noted, that she saved this podium, by driving all night from Sacramento, to the Piston Run.  Without that effort, she would not have won the CXCC Intermediate title, or finished 3 in the PNWMA Intermediate class.  Well done Victoria.” – Lee Fryberger, CGRT team manager
