Shane Cuthbertson was on hand looking to secure the Pro Championship and that is exactly what he did.  Taking his 5th consecutive overall win, the 'Moose' was on top form enjoying the technical course and perfect weather conditions.  Cuthbertson commented that " I was extremely focused on putting my best effort forth today to further increase my confidence ahead of my participation in the ISDE in a few weeks.  This is my 8th regional championship which brings me great satisfaction as I am currently riding better than ever, all the while being able to really enjoy the experience with my young family.”

Speaking of his family, both the Cuthbertson boys are following in their father's footsteps competing in the Second Gear Club (www.secondgearclub.com) series which follow the previous day adult competitions.  On Sunday, 7 year-old Kale took a win in front of 20 other little rippers and secured his class championship!  10 year-old Chase also raced taking 3rd on the day, but more importantly secured enough points to take his class championship!  "The Second Gear Club series is a great family orientated series and the kids events are excellent!  I am really stoked that it exists and allows us the opportunity to experience this great sport together as a family."

During the weekends events, a surprise ISDE fundraising effort was initiated by Darin Bullivant of Dare To Dream Extreme Adventure (www.daretodreamextreme.com) and the Dream It Race Team (D.I.R.T).  The challenge was for every dollar donated; his organization would match that contribution!  After an incredibly generous response by those in attendance, $2000 was raised to support Second Gear Club members Shane Cuthbertson and Lexi Pechout ISDE effort!!  CGRT would like to thank all those whom have either help with fundraising efforts and for the words of encouragement regarding this year ISDE competition.

From Victoria Hett:

Wardlow AB:  The Fraser Valley Dirtbike Club hosted another successful race this past weekend with the Zofka Ridge Cross Country in Hope BC.  CGRT’s Victoria Hett was there to represent the team in the Intermediate class. With the BC Off-road series only having 3 races left all of the top riders were in attendance to battle for much needed points to lock-in or better their standings in the competitive series.

Victoria got off to a decent start running, in 4th place but later fell to 6th. Conditions on the “A” split deteriorated causing some of the top riders to fall behind while trying to negotiate the rocky ledges.  Organizers later made the decision to remove one of the most difficult uphill sections from the “A” loop once riders, including some Pros, were having difficulty navigating the section.  By the third lap and closing in on the 100km - 4 hour mark, Victoria moved up into 5th place and finished there just behind the 2nd place points leader in the series.

In the over-all battle for points Victoria is sitting in 3rd place, with hopes that she can maintain or improve upon, with the last three remaining races.
