Cornergrass Racing Takes The Heat

The VOMC put together a great National event that sets the bar, CGRT really enjoyed the course. The tests were great, and the Enduro test really separated the men from the boys. - Lee Fryberger

Wardlow, AB: Another sweltering day challenged riders at the second round of the Royal Distributing Canadian Enduro Championships, at the Noble Canyon Enduro near Vernon, BC. Temperatures of over 35C challenged both riders and organizers to evade heat stroke and fatigue.

The ‘Giant Killer’ Ben Rego ( Kitimat, BC ) charged hard on his Husaberg TE 300, landing again on the podium on the second step of the E3 class and 5th overall on the weekend. Loosing the win for the day on one enduro test score has Ben motivated to push harder next weekend in Alberta for Round 3/4 “..the heat was very demanding, but I had fun today “ stated the always smiling rider.

CGRT’s junior rider and first year Pro, Cole Dobovich ( Provost AB ) had a tough day. He powered his Husaberg FX450 to strong test times, and handled the heat well despite charging harder in an effort to improve his score. But disaster hit during the last enduro test when a small mistake caused a crash, resulting in his bike cartwheeling into the forest down a hill. Cole lost significant time wrestling his bike back onto the course. “I don’t even know what happened, I hit my shoulder on a tree, then I see my bike cartwheeling. It happened very quick.”

Team Manager Lee Fryberger rode to victory, having a great day with few mistakes and no issues on his FX450. “I had a great weekend. Great course, no serious mistakes, hats off to the VOMC and to my team. Great effort.”
